Civil rights

We're committed to providing our customers fair and equitable service without discrimination.

Our commitment

We follow all federal and state non-discrimination laws and regulations including Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the Washington State Law Against Discrimination. It is our policy to assure that our employees and contractors do not discriminate against, deny, or exclude any person from any program, activity, or facility based on race, color, national origin, assigned sex, gender identity, age, disability, income, language, sexual orientation, creed, citizenship or immigration status, military or veteran status, marital status, or the use of a trained service animal by a person with a disability.

It is not considered discrimination when following federal and state laws such as requiring proof of U.S. citizenship for enhanced driver licenses or IDs (EDL/EID), or English-only language tests for commercial driver licenses (CDL).

Discrimination complaints

We take allegations of discrimination seriously. If you believe the Department of Licensing or our contractors has discriminated against you in providing you access to our services or facilities, we want to hear from you.

Please use the Discrimination Complaint form (available in English, Spanish, Russian, and more) to tell us about your experience. You must email or mail your complaint to us within 180 days of the reported incident.
